Steven Ho

In the post-pandemic era, the e-commerce (EC) and entertainment industries are expected to continue on an upward trajectory. During the Covid outbreak, in order to prevent the spread of the virus, countries set out lockdown orders. When people are forced to stay home, watching dramas, live streams, and online shopping have become essential activities in daily life. Seeing the amount of potential, many businesses have jumped in on this wave of trends. In the second of the “Jumpstart Your Japanese Journey” series, Startup Island TAIWAN will discuss the underlying business opportunities and the omni-channel strategy to thrive in Japan’s EC market post-pandemic.

In recent years, many Taiwanese startups have entered the Japanese market and achieved great performances. The friendly relations between Taiwan and Japan have driven domestic industry players to actively evaluate Japan as the priority when it comes to overseas market expansion. Startup Island TAIWAN, the national startup brand supported by the National Development Council (NDC), has built an international communication platform between Taiwan and Japan. It is expected that if the pandemic stabilizes this year, Startup Island TAIWAN will bring a delegation to Japan to communicate with key industry players, influencers, entrepreneurs, investors, and the relevant stakeholders through the first “Taiwan-Japan Innovation and Entrepreneurship Exchange Conference”.
From November 26th to 27th, Startup Island TAIWAN participated in the global information security conference Hacks In Taiwan Conference (HITCON) with two days of booths and an information security innovation forum. The two days of booths were designed to learn about what information security talents need for entrepreneurship. More than a hundred questionnaires were collected within the time span of two days. Startup Island TAIWAN hopes to foster a more comprehensive information security startup community through the feedback gathered and to be able to offer more international resources and government support to guide the growth of the community. The brand also coordinated the promotion of NEXT BIG’s CoolBitX to help them recruit more outstanding information security talents. President Tsai Ing-wen also visited the booth to give words of encouragement and signed on the collaboration magazine of Startup Island TAIWAN and VERSE.
