In July, we held our first ROCK the MIC event to find 4 great teams to exhibit at #RISEConf in Hong Kong.
Now, ROCK the MIC is back, bigger and better, with your chance to hit San Francisco at TechCrunch Disrupt SF 2015!

Calling all Taiwan startups! It's time for ROCK the MIC 2, with your chance to ROCK TechCrunch Disrupt SF 2015 this September! Thanks to the support of the National Development Council, EIGHT winners will be chosen to fly to San Francisco to exhibit as part of the Taiwan Pavilion in Startup Alley at Disrupt, sharing your product with thousands of attendees from across the world. What's more, your startup will also pitch to investors & media at a special invite-only demo day for Taiwan startups, join a private networking event with key investors & influencers, AND you'll get to visit major Silicon Valley tech companies such as Facebook!

Judges panel

Last time at ROCK the MIC, we heard from 29 awesome startups, and we're looking forward to meeting even more of you at ROCK the MIC 2! This time, we've assembled a fantastic panel of judges comprised of four awesome women with extensive experience working in the startup industry both in Taiwan and internationally. They are:

How to join

Register for ROCK the MIC 2 by August 22 to give your 2-minute pitch (no slides!) on August 24. In order to qualfy, teams must meet the following requirements:

  • Is a tech startup (at least 1 engineer/developer on team, producing a tech product)
  • Product must have international potential (not only for Taiwan users)
  • Team must have at minimum a working prototype (hardware) or open beta (software)
  • Founder or Co-Founder is able to introduce the product in English
  • Team is Taiwan-based or will be based in Taiwan within next 12 months
  • Available for travel from September 15 to 26
  • Must have raised under USD $2.5 million in funding

ROCK the MIC FAQ:

  • What criteria will be used to judge the teams?
    Primarily, teams will be selected based on how ready they are to exhibit to an international audience. Having a mature product, clear branding, and an engaging presentation will all help to win over our judges!

  • If our team wins, how many team members can join the exhibition?
    Winning teams will be permitted to bring one team member. (Round-trip flight, hotel accommodations, a conference pass and exhibition space, and group meals & local transportation are all included.) If additional team members would like to attend, they must arrange their own travel plans and cover their own costs of attendance.

  • Our team won't be in Taiwan on August 24. Can we still register?
    If your team meets the registration requirements, but none of your co-founders are available to pitch live on August 24, we can accept your pitch by video. Complete your registration as usual and reply to the confirmation email you receive to make arrangements for your video pitch.

  • Our team previously applied for discount tickets to TechCrunch Disrupt SF 2015 via iii (資策會). Do we still have to register for ROCK the MIC 2 if we want to compete?
    Yes, you MUST register for ROCK the MIC 2 via this page if you wish to participate in the event and be eligible for the free travel, accommodations, and booth space at TechCrunch Disrupt SF.
